Importance of STEM education in India.
In this blog, we would like to reflect on the importance and the kind of change STEM education can bring to the overall development of the nation. India is now at a stage where the number of STEM jobs is increasing at a fast pace and outstripping the number of STEM graduates at this point. It has been predicted that 80 percent of the jobs created in the next decade will require some kind of math and science skills. The next-gen talent should focus primarily on innovation, problem-solving skills, and creativity.
This is where the STEM players step in to help bridge the gap. Furthermore, India's Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's Make in India initiative, which aims to make India a prominent global manufacturing hub, will place a high demand on the country's academic institutions, particularly in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, to produce highly skilled graduates. This means that educational institutions will have to place a strong emphasis on current scientific and technological developments so that graduates are well prepared to enter the STEM workforce.
